Caring for Your New Jewelry

Read below to learn the best ways to keep your jewelry looking like new for years to come.

Sterling Silver

  • Our sterling silver jewelry is made of either 0.925 or 0.999 silver. Sterling silver is a metal alloy that naturally reacts with other chemicals in the environment causing it to tarnish over time. You can slow this process by limiting exposure to moisture, keeping your pieces in an airtight container when not in use, and polishing with a cloth to remove tarnish as needed.

Gold Fill Jewelry

  • Our gold tone jewelry is made using 14/20 Gold Fill, meaning that the outer layer is made up of pure gold overlying a base layer of non-precious base metal (typically brass). This is an economical way to get the skin benefits and quality of gold without the price. The 14/20 signifies that 14kt outer gold layer makes up at least 1/20th or 5% of the total metal weight. Unlike gold plated jewelry, gold fill has a thicker layer of gold that is unlikely to completely rub off, making it hypoallergenic and less likely to tarnish over time. It is still best to keep this jewelry away from moisture and store in an airtight container when not in use.
